Hi everyone, you might have noticed a few times this year I've tidied up my older drawings while also having a vague goal of returning to some updates. There were even a couple of sketches tossed up with thumbnails over the last year + but I've realized something putzing away with some of those old ideas - They're holding me back in a few ways.
I've been spending my creative energy working on a non-tiddy comic with a friend for a couple years now and haven't spend much time here because of it. Opailopai came about because I liked drawing this stuff (still do to some extent) and wanted a hideaway from real life friends where I could just draw tiddy. That so many out there think I do an OK job at it was merely a confidence boost.
So , I think what I need to do here is abandon all of my standing requests. I mean honestly they're from 2013. It's quite likely the 3 people that were left have long forgotten about them at this point. Will I never draw anything again here ? heck no I'm just cutting off the ball and chain. Other artists might know what I refer to , you have a creative wall where you feel like "I need to do this before I do that" and with my much more limited amount of what I'll call "motivated drawing time" I've been staring at that wall for months at a time.
So even though the last couple of requests aren't going to be done as such I've come up with a more creative solution that's more in line I feel with what I want to create - that is , I'm pleased to announce that I'll be drawing a comic of sorts with the same sorts of themes that my page here is known for. I don't have a name or specific characters for this idea just yet but I've a vague plan in mind for the first couple of stories to tell. Those who've followed the last few postings should be aware that I've been putzing away on a request idea that would have involved a mail order genie as well as another idea involving a feminizing energy drink / gatorade knock off. I had an epiphany today that I should merge those together and have some actual characters instead of just a sequence. There are a number of popular TG stories over on fiction mania involving the town of Tandy Grove , an entire suburb community with all manner of transformative magic at work changing both the willing and unwilling constantly and I feel that setting a comic idea in a place with that same sort of atmosphere is a start. To go along with this - I was going to have a boyfriend character living with his girlfriend , each little comic then would focus on hi-jinks ensuing involving the misuse of various magical items. Not the most original idea , I know. But for me - it's creatively more interesting to come up with a world and characters and let the transformations come second these days. Early on I was fine making simple quick sequences and pin-ups but I desire something more fulfilling now.
I've had multiple people asking when I'll be taking requests again ... I'm not going to say never but at this point I think I'll be moving to a commission based model or a patreon once I get this comic idea off the ground. There's no time like the present to get a bit more serious with my art and I'm thankful for anyone who wants to come along for the ride.
